What is a school social worker?
A Masters level social worker who helps students and families to have what they need so that the student can reach their highest potential.
What do they do?
School social workers help connect students and families to resources in the community. Some examples include: Medical Assistance, Housing resources, Food and Clothing banks.
How are they different from a School Counselor?
School Counselors work with students in the school building. Social Workers spend more time with families and can do home visits and assist families with appointments and transportation. School Counselors and Social Workers work very closely together and both can assist in many ways.
